History of Clare Rose Inc.
1936
C. Rose Distributor Plaza Beverage opens for business at 178 West Main Street, Patchogue, NY, selling Mission and Plaza Soda.
1948
Clare Rose and his wife Millie were approached by Anheuser-Busch and Piels to distribute their beer.
Clare Rose moved to 72 West Avenue in Patchogue, NY, where it became the Anheuser-Busch wholesaler for Eastern Suffolk County.
1960
Clare Rose acquired Heineken for Eastern Suffolk County. The first Heineken delivery was made from the back of a salesman’s car.
1964
Anheuser-Busch appointed Clare Rose to cover the western half of Suffolk County.
Clare Rose’s fleet was comprised of 3 new trucks.
The company’s name changed to Clare Rose Inc.
1965
After 30 years Clare Rose retires, Mark Rose joins the business working in operations.
Clare Rose Inc. builds a new warehouse (6300 sq. feet).
1968
Later, upon returning from the army, Clare’s son Ric also joined the business.
1970
Mark Rose designed the Clare Rose Inc. logo.
1972
Clare Rose receives the 25-year award from August Busch Jr. in Houston, Texas.
1974
1 million cases were sold for the first time in the company’s history.
1975
The second expansion of the warehouse was completed.
1978
Clare Rose reached another milestone: the 3rd millionth case was sold to Tom Meehan, the owner of the Emerald Pub in Centereach.
1980
Clare Rose built new offices and redesigned the warehouse to adjust to the growth of the company. The building was dedicated to Millie Rose.
Mickey Mantel comes to Clare Rose and helps introduce Natural Light.
1982
The state of New York enacted a new bottle law that mandated the responsibility for a five-cent deposit on cans and bottles rested with the wholesaler, not the bottler or brewer. This led us to build a recycling plant.
1986
Clare Rose Inc. Celebrates their 50th year in business.
1991
West Ave was renamed Clare Rose Blvd. for all of our accomplishments and contributions to the Village of Patchogue.
Clare Rose Inc. became the official Anheuser-Busch wholesaler for Nassau County.
1995
Clare Rose Inc. of Nassau moved to its present location in Melville.
2002
On August 9th 2002, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held at Brookhaven Memorial Medical Center to celebrate the opening of their new emergency facility, the Clare F. Rose Emergency, Trauma & Chest Pain Pavilion. The Keynote Speaker of this ceremony was none other than The Honorable George E. Pataki, Governor of the State of New York.
2003
The third generation of the Rose family took over Clare Rose Inc.. Sean Rose became the Chairman of the Board, and Lisa Rose became the Chief Executive Officer.
2009
Clare Rose Inc. received the Red Star Award from Heineken, which recognized us for being the best wholesaler of Heineken in the USA, based on performance. Furthermore, we became the number one wholesaler for Heineken Light in the USA.
2010
Clare Rose Inc. breaks ground for the start of their new facility in East Yaphank, NY.
Clare Rose Inc. moved to its new, state-of-the-art 269,563 square foot facility in East Yaphank, NY.
Clare Rose Inc. donates new pool to YMCA in Patchogue, NY. It was named in honor of Clare’s late wife, Mildred Rose.
2011
Clare Rose Inc. proudly celebrated its 75th anniversary in business.
